Friends of Dust-DN
Expanding our community beyond the core consortium: a network of scientists and PhD students who engage with Dust-DN research, training, and outreach.
What are Friends of Dust-DN?
- Scientists and PhD students interested in Dust-DN activities, research, and outcomes.
- Strengthen knowledge exchange, community building, and project visibility beyond formal partners.
Framework & Aims
- Broaden the scientific network around atmospheric dust and its impacts.
- Facilitate participation in training schools, workshops, and outreach.
- Promote open dialogue around data, methods, and tooling.
Criteria for Becoming a Friend
- Interest or expertise in Dust-DN themes (e.g., atmospheric dust, aerosols, remote sensing, climate, data management).
- Affiliation with a recognised institution (university, research centre, relevant organisation), or proven independent academic/professional experience.
- Openness to engage through webinars, workshops, or conferences.
- Willingness to collaborate (e.g., co-authoring, reviewing, sharing knowledge and expertise).

Information
Updates on open Dust-DN webinars, selected workshops, and outreach events via the newsletter; occasional direct invitations.
Participation
Share latest findings, datasets, tools, and methods with the Dust-DN community.
Networking & Visibility
Boost outreach via your networks; potential features in the Dust-DN newsletter, blog posts, or as Featured Researchers.
Collaboration
Scope for long-term research collaborations and joint proposals. Joint event proposals are considered by the Supervisory Board; research collaboration ideas are directed to relevant supervisors/partners.
Access to Expertise
Participation in expert lectures, technical workshops, and tutorials (subject to capacity and relevance).
Limitations
- No access to internal or confidential project data or documents.
- No financial support or reimbursement from the project budget.
- For in-person participation in Dust-DN events, Friends may be requested to contribute a fee toward common expenses.
How to Become a Friend
- Send an expression of interest to the Project Manager: k.fragkos@cyi.ac.cy
- Include a short introduction and your interest in Dust-DN themes.
- Approval by the Management Team; you’ll be added to a simple mailing list for communication.
We’ll follow up with next steps and upcoming opportunities.
